What You’ll Make

Attendees will create a black velvet-style tiki painting with a high-contrast composition, glowing colored edges, and a moody tropical night effect.

The finished piece is built through simple layers, so guests do not need prior painting experience to participate.

Take-Home Art

This class is designed around completing a real finished piece, not just learning a technique. Each student will work on a bold black velvet tiki painting with enough polish and visual impact to take home, frame and hang.

The finished painting will have the classic black-velvet look: dramatic contrast, glowing color, and a moody tropical feel that fits a home bar, tiki room, lounge, or art wall.

About the Instructor

Crazy Al Evans brings his unmistakable tiki character style and hands-on carving/art sensibility to this year’s workshop. The class keeps the approachable structure of last year’s Tiki Tony session while shifting the lead instruction to Crazy Al for the 2026 Hukilau.
